Y-straps manufactured from British webbing in Wirtschaftsamt Litzmannstadt
These Y-straps are made in the Ghetto of Lodz, Poland which the Germans renamed into “Litzmannstadt”. They are made using parts of captured British equipment items. These British equipment items where left in 1940 when the British Expeditionary Force evacuated to the United Kingdom. The Germans sent these for recycling and a lot of work was put in disassembling every British equipment piece and recycling the individual parts into German army equipment. This Y-strap is a beautiful example of the equipment that was made in Litzmannstadt. In contrast to most encountered Litzmannstadt manufactured Y-straps this example is in combat used condition. Rare field grey Luftwaffe Hermann Göring division shoulderstraps
Rare field grey Luftwaffe Hermann Göring division shoulderstraps in unissued condition. These late war, unpiped shoulderstraps were issued with the late issue field grey four pocket Luftwaffe M43 field blouse. These straps have no piping which in my opinion is logical. Being of a field grey in stead of a Luftwaffe blue wool, it would be very hard finding shoulderstraps in matching wool colour. In my opinion these were intended for the unit to apply their own piping like the late war piped Hermann Göring collar tabs. The straps are typical late war examples with simplified construction. A similar pair can be found here
