The President of the United States of America, authorized by Act of Congress July 9, 1918, takes pleasure in presenting the Silver Star to Staff Sergeant Louis F. Chase (ASN: 11016126), United States Army, for gallantry in action while serving with Company H, 2d Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division, in action against the enemy in the vicinity of Caumont, Normandy, France, on 14 June 1944. His gallant actions and dedicated devotion to duty, without regard for his own life, were in keeping with the highest traditions of military service and reflect great credit upon himself and the United States Army. Cased US Silver star medal which belonged to Staff Sergeant Louis Chase who served with the the 26th Infantry Regiment of the First Infantry Division. I have found some documentation but I’m sure there will be more information in the morning reports. Very hard to find Silver Star that was awarded for the Normandy Campaign!
