  • Long handled pioneer wire cutters with cover by G. Genschow, Berlin. 1937

A nice long handled wire cutter with it’s original early pouch. The pouch is nicely maker, location and date marked G. Genschow, Berlin. 1937 and marked with the prewar Waffenamt 387. The wire cutters are in great condition and retain most of their original finish. The blades are Waffenamt marked and still in good condition; they still work great on steel wire. The handles still retain most of their pressed paper handles and bakelite end knobs. These wire cutters where mostly used by pioneers but lots of them can be seen used in the hands of squad leaders during operation Fall Gelb in 1940.

A rare and desirable set that I probably won’t find another one of soon!

  • Rare latewar enameled RB-numbered M42 Kochgeschirr

A very nice latewar messkit or Kochgeschirr made by Annweiler Email-u.Metall-Werke in late 1944 or 1945. The marking RBNR. 0/0657/0001 was a latewar substitute for AEM.A. which is usually stamped on items from this maker. This messkit is finished with enamel and after that painted over before it left the factory. A lot of paint still remains on the lid and the RB number, covered by this paint can still be seen. The messkit has one small hole in the bottom but retains 90% of its original enamel finish.

It remains in superb condition, exhibiting minimal wear on the swastika and wreath. The reverse side displays a typical patina, and the cross is entirely untouched, retaining its original state. This early example is of great interest due to its characteristic Zimmermann components, such as the directly soldered catch, faint indications of the typical 11 o’clock flaw, and a distinct date design. It was acquired by a British soldier and is part of his wartime souvenirs, including his identification tags. Most of the weighty early DKiS examples are usually attributed to Godet or Deschler. The canister still retains its vibrant, wartime applied three-tone camouflage pattern up to 90%. The gasmask was found in Pont des Réaux sur le Cagnard which us near Trelly and Quettreville-sur-Sienne which where both the scene of fierce battles fought by the 6. Fallschirmjäger Regiment and 2. SS Panzerdivision ‘Das Reich’. Considering FJR6 had a very typical camouflage pattern, distinctly different then this example my assumption is that this camouflaged gasmask once belonged to a member of the Das Reich division.
