British RAF combat report Mosquito downing a FW190 over Saint Lo, June 1944
€900.00British RAF combat report Mosquito downing a FW190 over Saint Lo, June 1944. This after action report indicates a Mosquito flewn by 488 Squadron’s E.F. Bunting, and C.P. Reed. During the night of 16 to 17th of June 1944 near St. Lo with a Mosquito mark VIII. The Mosquito took off from RAF station Zeals near Wiltshire. He was chasing a ‘Bogey’ FW 190 at 0416 hrs. As they flew behind it and gave it a one second burst the plane exploded in front of them and flew right through the debris. This damaged its starboard engine and meant that Bunting flew the plane back with one engine. Squadron leader pilot Edward Nigel Bunting, DFC, 488 Squadron Royal Air Force was killed in action 30th July 1944 and is buried in Neuville-Saint-Rémy, France.
