USAAF Grouping to Capt. William E. Smith

Stunning grouping to Captain William E. Smith, decorated with 3 Oak leaf clusters. The grouping consists of his A-2 flying Jacket, officers blouse with Captain insignia, sidecap, flying sunglasses, tie, a set of pictures, paperwork and some souvenirs taken from the PTO. The A-2 Flying Jacket is a textbook example in size 38.  The jacket has a sewn leather name tag on the left breast. The shirt is a nice example with period added metal insignia. The paperwork consists of a set of Echelon magazines and a T-33 flying manual. There are two photograph in the group; one showing Captain William E Smith being just decorated with 3 Oak leaf clusters October 19th 1943. The other unit photograph is staged in front of a Lockheed P38 lightning. The back of this picture reads all the names of the pictured men. The grouping also has a nice set of issued flying sunglasses. The icing on the cake is the captured Japanese currency and the Toyota engine plates that probably came from a downed aircraft. The set is nice and would nicely be a very good base for further research and a instant display.
