US M1942 paratrooper jacket IDed with several laundry codes in the back. The laundry code P-5706 is readable next to the cloth hanger loop in the neck right alongside the selvedge in the middle seam. This laundry number refers to Paratrooper Medic T/4 Edward J. Pillis 507th PIR who was killed in action 11.6.44. Pillis with 507 PIR that landed around Picauville with the 82nd Airborne Division.

There are several serials in the back which I can not exactly read. The back of the jacket has a large elastic band period sewn into for a smarter appearance. The jacket is a rare and authentic M1942 jump jacket that once belonged to a paratrooper that jumped on D-Day.

Edward J Pillis is buried at Normandy American Cemetery, Colleville-sur-mer, France, Plot: F Row: 8 Grave: 6.
