Rare published Erkennungsmarke Kdo. 5. Pz. D. indicating Kommando 5. Panzer Division. This interesting unit took part in the Polish and French campaigns. Later it was transferred to Romania and Bulgaria after which it took part in the invasion of Yugoslavia and Greece. It was moved to take part in the invasion of Russia where it stood only 35 kilometers from Moscow. After a large Russian counterattack it was moved to the rear and fought minor battles for the remainder of the war. In 1945 it was caught in the Samland peninsula where it was partially evacuated by the Kriegsmarine to surrender to the US troops.
