German ID disc or Erkennungsmarke marked 1. S/ Art. Ers. Abt. 251 indicating Artillerie Ersatz Abteilung 251. In may 1941 it supplied all of its troops to Artillerie Abteilung 669 under the 709 Infanterie Division. This unit was stationed in the Northeast Cotentin right in the middle of the dropzones of the US Airborne divisions during D-Day. Nice Erkennungsmarke that can be a base for further research.
