Black mapcase marked 0/0295/0105, named US Sgt 943 Field Artillery Batallion which was attatched to the first XX corps Artillery unit in the war to fire directly under Corps Artillery control. On the 12th of August 1944 it fired in support of the 3rd Cavalry group with the 80th infantry division toward Carrouges and Evron. More information here. The mapcase was taken as a souvenir to this unit. Several names inside give a number of research opportunities. Nice piece!
