SE66 M40 Heer helmet in three-tone Normandy camouflage from Cairon le Vieux
NewStunning three-tone normandy camouflage helmet marked SE66 indicating production by Sachsichse Emaillierwerke. The helmet retains its period applied three-tone camouflage pattern up to 95% and is a real ‘one looker’ example in untouched, uncleaned condition. The helmet was found in Cairon Le vieux which saw heavy battles on June 8th between the Regina Rifles and Grenadier Regiment 736, 716 Infanterie-Division. This is most probably the unit this helmet belonged to, the 716th ID was stationed at Gold, Juno and Sword beach as a defensive unit around 1942. The helmet is a textbook and excellent example of a ‘Normandy’ camouflage helmet that would be very hard to upgrade ánd has its provenance right in the middle of the fighting area.

The production of this third pattern started post May 1944. The compass is nicely marked cxn which indicates production by Emil Busch A.-G., Rathenow. The compass is in good used condition and features a blueish anodized lid which is rare to encounter and typical for this manufacturer! Nice late war “A” marked compass!
