Scheldt pocket deathcard Georg Kapfhammer KIA 15.9.1944 Breskens
Original Holland related deathcard of Obergefreiter Georg Kapfhammer. Kapfhammer served in an Pionier-Abteilung and was killed in action on September 15, 1944 in the small village of Breskens in the Netherlands. The German forces found themselves trapped during the retreat from France and Belgium between the Dutch/Belgian coast and the West Schelde. Trapped in the so called Breskens Pocket was the German 15. Armee. The German pocket managed to hold out throughout October. Extensive research shows Obergefreiter Kapfhammer served in the 2. Kompanie / Pionier-Btl. 245, part of the 245. Infanterie-Division. He was killed by a “Bombensplitter” – bomb shrapnel and was initially buried in a field grave in Breskens, later his remains where transferred to Ysselsteyn.

Beautiful brownish bakelite cup which is in a good used condition, the cup has some scratches and a tiny damage on the rim. The cup is nicely marked with an MPD code which was typical for period produced bakelite items. The MPD code F7/S Indicates production by an unknown maker and that the used material is Phenolic resin (bakelite) with sawdust as the filler material. Outstanding brown bakelite cup to complete a canteen or a display!

Original Heer Panzer deathcard to Unteroffizier Franz Huber, Killed in action 12.7.1944 south west of Caen, it states Hostot on the deathcard which could be translated to Hottot-les-Bagues, which is a area fought over by Panzeraufklärungs-Lehr-Abteilung 130, Panzer Lehr Division. A interesting deathcard which could be a good base for further research!

Original grey Heer EM/NCO collar tabs or Einheitskragenlitzen as first issued in May 1940. These collar tabs were factory sewn to all Heer EM/NCO field blouses right until the end of the war. Although these were general issue; finding original examples is quite hard. One pair only!

The belt is nicely marked Wittkopp & Co., Bielefeld 1942 which is hard to read but clearly visible in hand. The belt is nicely size marked 90 on the end of the belt, 90cm is a good size which would fit on most if not all modern mannequins!
