Butterdish – private purchase

The butterdish or “Fettbuchse” was the issue container for the German butter ration. The Germans where issued a amount of butter with their rations. Most standard butterdishes open in 1/4th of a turn and are made of bakelite.

Notes: These aluminium butterdishes where private purchase and are commonly overlooked as a period correct piece. Many period pictures and battlefield archeology prove this wrong.
