Helmet – Dutch M34 – NSB – Weerafdeling
This helmet was found in the Dutch city of Middelburg, where it was left behind after the war. It’s a pre war Dutch M34 helmet which has been repainted during the war for the WA or Weerafdeling. These helmets where worn by members of the WA who where the personal guards to Anton Mussert. These self called Zwarte Soldaten also “patrolled” jewish quarters during the war.
On both sides a orange wolfs hook or Wolfsangel is painted signifying the link to the NSB or Nationaal Socialistische Beweging.
The helmet is named on the inside to “De Visser”
Can say I’m thrilled to have found this helmet, but it has a very dark side to it too.
