British RAF combat report Mosquito downing a FW190 over Saint Lo, June 1944
€900.00British RAF combat report Mosquito downing a FW190 over Saint Lo, June 1944. This after action report indicates a Mosquito flewn by 488 Squadron’s E.F. Bunting, and C.P. Reed. During the night of 16 to 17th of June 1944 near St. Lo with a Mosquito mark VIII. The Mosquito took off from RAF station Zeals near Wiltshire. He was chasing a ‘Bogey’ FW 190 at 0416 hrs. As they flew behind it and gave it a one second burst the plane exploded in front of them and flew right through the debris. This damaged its starboard engine and meant that Bunting flew the plane back with one engine. Squadron leader pilot Edward Nigel Bunting, DFC, 488 Squadron Royal Air Force was killed in action 30th July 1944 and is buried in Neuville-Saint-Rémy, France. Rare to find original combat report depicting a airbattle over Normandy in 1944!

By Air to Battle: The Official Account of the British First and Sixth Airborne Divisions, 1945
€60.00By Air to Battle: The Official Account of the British First and Sixth Airborne Divisions, 1945. First published example dated 1945 and comprising a compilation of fascinating primary accounts of airborne combat as told by the very men who fought in the action, ‘By Air to Battle’ is the official history of Airborne operations by British Paratroops in World War II. Spanning the introduction of the Central Landing Establishment to the end of the war, we follow the heroic exploits of the British First and Sixth Airborne Divisions. Never before available in ebook form ‘By Air to Battle’ is an inspiring and at times very comic description of the true events that took place at such historic conflicts as Arnhem, the Rhine, Normandy and Bruneval as well as the Airborne forces in North Africa, Sicily and Italy. This is a must-read for any military history enthusiast.
